Data centers with high power computing produce significantly more waste heat than traditional data centers. When this waste heat is recovered utilizing a liquid-cooled system as the waste heat recovery method, possible loss in heat recovery is minimized. Regulation also encourages data centers to recover waste heat, and usually this is done by storing heat from air into water. This brings only small benefits, as heat recovery can also be done more efficiently. With the help of MinersLoop’s solutions, waste heat is led directly from the machine to the liquid, making it possible for the machine to cool better and the heat to be recovered more efficiently.
When the heat has been transferred from the machine to the liquid, it’s heated with heat pumps to suit the needs of the district heating network before it moves on. In practice, MinersLoop creates its own heating unit between the district heating company and the data center, through which the heat is transferred to the district heating network. We take care of the entire infrastructure related to the data center for our customer, and work closely with district heating companies to connect the data center to their network.
Data centers will anyway produce waste heat, we help utilize it in the smartest and most cost-effective way as possible. With the help of our flexible solutions, we can provide our customers with the amount of thermal energy they need. Our goal is to achieve lower production costs compared to traditional heat production methods and promote smart energy use for all parties involved.
Finland's geopolitical location, stable electricity grid and comprehensive district heating networks create a competitive advantage that is difficult to find elsewhere in the world. The flexibility of data center energy loads allows us to utilize excess renewable energy production. In this way, we can promote sustainable energy solutions throughout the world and reduce electricity price spikes. As industry pioneers, we leverage extensive expertise and innovative Finnish solutions to lead the way in promoting sustainable energy practices and contributing to a more resilient energy system.
We are a flexible operator and believe that a competent and seamlessly functioning team plays a key role in the success of our customers. This is also the basis of our effective decision-making and operating method, which allows us to bring new ideas to the table while avoiding unnecessary pitfalls during projects. In addition to our own staff, we’ve invested in a strong network, which consists of diverse experts all around our operations.
All our processes have been built to support transparent operations, which is why our customers can trust that they only pay for services that they really use. We use a precisely calibrated MID measurement system, where consumption is measured from several different measurement points. With the help of our system, the customer can easily monitor the actual electricity consumption as well as heat and energy readings of their own data center.
We prefer the least consuming, but still as energy-efficient solutions as possible. We’ve built our service set in a way that we can utilize our own solutions to ensure flexibility according to the customer’s situation – reducing costs for example by recovering waste heat or utilizing the reserve market when needed if the data center temporarily has a lower need for use.
The growth of renewable energy production increases the strain on the power grid and the need for flexible energy use. We participate in reserve markets and help balance the overall load on the power grid by adjusting our energy consumption through the use of automation.
We design, build and maintain individually optimized data centers tailored for our customers’ needs. We’ve mainly designed and implemented liquid-cooled data centers due to their ability to recover waste heat.
